What’s happening with CGPI

We are beginning to focus on recruiting participants for the next class that will begin the program in June 2027 (the Alma Kick-off conference is June 10-14).

To that end, we are hosting a CGPI Pop-up event or Mini-Conference this October (16-17) in Marquette, MI. Our aim is to give attendees a taste of the full CGPI program by offering some of our conference workshops, a mock cohort meeting, a worship service, and more. If anyone reading this is interested in attending, please contact me (contact information is below)!

We may offer similar events in other areas of the Synod if there is interest – any Presbytery leaders reading this are invited to contact me if they’d like something like this in their presbytery!

We have also decided to open the Alma Conference up to anyone who is interested in attending, without a commitment to participating in the full 18-month program. We think that if people come and experience the blessing that is the CGPI preaching conference they will want to commit to the full program (the Holy Spirit will twist their arms a bit if necessary!!).

Finally, our current participants are busy being formed as preachers. Our second-year members, who are only a few months away from completing the program, will focus this month on Preaching as Act of Worship. And our first year participations, will start a two month section on different sermon formats, such as the narrative (or story) format, sermons structured around an image, the problem-resolution format, actively involving the congregation, and more.

If you are anyone you know is interested in learning more about CGPI, please contact Matt Aragon Bruce, the CGPI director, or any other Synod staff member.

Grace and peace to you!
