We are busy planning the 3rd Annual Preaching Conference and recruiting new participants for our third class of emerging preachers!
If you know of anyone who is discerning a call to preach, please recommend CGPI to them. We are focused on recruiting aspiring and newer preachers who have little to now formal training in preaching or graduate theological education in order to equip them for effective and compelling ministry proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. You can read about the program here, and also apply! If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact the program director Dr. Matt Aragon Bruce (contact information below). Applications are due April 25, and the program begins with a conference at Alma College, June 4-8.

Moreover, we are excited to announce that we have all of our mentors in place. In addition to Rev. Jeri Baker (Mackinac), Rev. Dr. Jospeh Novak (Huron), Rev. Brenna Overland (Huron), and Rev. Brad Shepphard (Cincinnati), we can now announce the Rev. Dr. Kymberley Clemons-Jones as our fifth mentor. The Rev. Dr. Clemons-Jones comes to us from the Presbytery of Southern New England where she serves as a minister, educator, and Soul Care coach, guiding individuals and communities toward healing, purpose, and spiritual wholeness. With advanced degrees in theology, educational counseling, and prophetic activism, she connects faith, justice, and emotional well-being in her work. Her work centers on spiritual practices, reflection, and restorative community, helping leaders, caregivers, and individuals renew their inner lives and deepen their connection with God. She has served in pastoral leadership at Valley Stream Presbyterian Church in New York and continues ministry as Soul Care Minister at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Massachusetts. Through preaching, teaching, coaching, and retreat leadership, Dr. Clemons-Jones equips people to heal, grow, and live with courage, faith, and purpose.
We are excited for Dr. Clemons-Jones and our other mentors to join the CGPI family. And even more excited for a new class of aspiring preachers to join us and serve across the Synod.
Please pray for our current and soon to apply participants. And of course, recommend us and send us recommendations of anyone who you think is called to preach the Good News!
