About the event
This workshop will help contextualize the Christian Nationalism we are experiencing today in the United States as part of a larger global movement of religious nationalism. It will help participants understand its sources and the way it shapes our culture. The goal of the workshop is to help Christians discern how our theological convictions can help us live faithfully while pushing back against the harmful social effects of religious nationalism.
Bio: Rev. Tony Tian-Ren Lin, PhD, is an ordained Presbyterian pastor who is trained as a cultural sociologist. He is currently the Associate Director and Director of Research at the Center for Public Theology and Public Policy at Yale Divinity School. He is the author of Prosperity Gospel Latinos and Their American Dream (UNC Press, 2020).
