Maumee Valley Presbytery and Presbyterian Disaster Relief Organize Flood Recovery
Six counties in northern Ohio were declared federal disaster areas due to the effects of massive flooding on August 22. Maumee Valley Presbytery, whose offices are in Findlay, encompasses all six counties.
Presbytery Exec Hilary Shuford reports,
"With gratitude to God, I am so thankful for your prayers, support and encouragement. I am awed by the presence of Christ in our midst as I see and learn of the ways in which our church members and pastors are responding to the devastating floods of August 22.
"Our presbytery has organized a long range recovery planning team, with the help of our friends at Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA), which will work with our local churches to assess and respond to needs in our communities. If you or your church would like to volunteer to send a mission team, please contact the PDA Call Center at 1-866-732-6121.
"Within Maumee Valley Presbytery, Elder Lucy Russell (419-260-6831) and Elder Tami Robinson (419-562-1732) will be leading the MVP Call Center to organize recovery work teams. They will be coordinating with the PDA Call Center and with our local churches in Shelby, Bucyrus, Bluffton, Ottawa and Findlay. To date over 5,000 claims have been filed with FEMA."
