The Synod of the Covenant works through the Multicultural and Justice Committee to serve in a variety of ways. Their concerns cover a wide scope of issues in society and the church, including economic justice, peacemaking, basic medical care, women and children, and racial ethnic affairs.
Related to this committee is the Cabinet on Ethnic Church Affairs (CECA), which offers program grants for racial ethnic congregations within the synod and scholarships for their member students to attend college or graduate school.
CECA also relates to and funds program and mission efforts of the Asian, Black and Hispanic synod caucuses and the synod’s Native American Consulting Committee.
Two other missions of the synod, Justice for Women (JFW) and the Mobile Health Fair (MHF), work with this committee, as does responsibility for the PC(USA)’s Peacemaking Offering. With the synod’s share of monies received from our congregations’ Peacemaking Offering, this committee oversees presbytery grants and individual scholarships for programs and events that promote justice and peacemaking. |
